Rick Riordan Announces Title For New Norse Mythology Series

Rick Riordan announced the title of his new series, this time based on Norse Mythology: Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard.

Rick Riordan announced the title of his new series, this time based on Norse Mythology: Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard.

It is set to come out October 2015.

Now, if you’re a fan of Riordan, you’ll recognize that Magnus shares a last name with Annabeth Chase, the girlfriend of Percy Jackson, and daughter of Athena. Annabeth’s father is mortal, but I personally think it’s entirely too much of a coincidence for the two to share a last name. Riordan said on Tumblr:

What does the name imply? Stay tuned…

Since Riordan’s multiple mythological series exist in the same world, it is definitely possible that there is a connection between the two characters.

Although the series is still in the early stages of production, there are a few details that we do know. The series will be a trilogy and it will take place in Boston.

Since Riordan is a mythology fanatic, don’t expect to see anything you think you know about Norse Mythology, because he’s not taking anything from movies.

While you bide your time waiting for the next series to come out, be sure to check out his other series if you haven’t! Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the spin-off series, Heroes of Olympus, are personal favorites of mine. The final book in the Heroes of Olympus series, The Blood of Olympus, comes out October 7!
