Robert Downey Jr. Confirms “Sherlock Holmes 3” Is In The Works

Robert Downey Jr. first got to play the world’s best known detective in 2009’s Sherlock Holmes. He later got involved with the same team for the film’s 2011 sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Well, prepare yourselves, because the actor has now revealed that there’s a third movie coming!

The actor took to Reddit to answer a fan question, and he made it known that a third installment was definitely going to happen. He also said that they were serious about this one, and mean to make it the best one in the series yet. Specifically, Robert Downey Jr. replied with, “Yes, we have a Sherlock 3 in development. We want it to be the best of the series, so that’s a pretty tall order.“

Reportedly, the third film of the series will see Guy Ritchie returning to the director’s chair. Early news wanted him to have already signed to produce the film in Hollywood. According to producer Dan Lin, a script has been in the works by Drew Pearce since the beginning of last year. Last year, Jude Law, who co-stars alongside Robert Downey Jr., revealed that a script was actually being written, without Warner Bros. having picked up the project yet.
