Robert Pattinson has officially been added to the cast of Lost City of Z in an unspecified role. The James Gray directed film was originally set to star Brad Pitt, but he has since stepped into a role as a producer, and the film will instead star Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role.
The movie is based off of the book of the same name, written by David Grann.
Amazon.com summary: “In 1925, the legendary British explorer Percy Fawcett ventured into the Amazon jungle, in search of a fabled civilization. He never returned. Over the years countless perished trying to find evidence of his party and the place he called “The Lost City of Z.” In this masterpiece of narrative nonfiction, journalist David Grann interweaves the spellbinding stories of Fawcett’s quest for “Z” and his own journey into the deadly jungle, as he unravels the greatest exploration mystery of the twentieth century.”
It is theorized that Pattinson will play Fawcett’s son, who was a member of the team that went missing. Pattinson has been busy this year, shooting Maps to the Stars and The Rover.
