There are some scary situations going on in the middle east right now. With so much turmoil that’s been going on for so long, some companies are tiring of the risk the conflict imposes on their employees.
Until further notice, all Delta Air Lines and United Airlines flights will not being going to Israel. A rocket landed near Tel Aviv’s Gen Gurion Airport, which would send a shiver down anyone’s spine knowing danger is that close to a plane again.
While there was only one flight per day to Israel for Delta, the company felt that was one flight too many until some sort of control can be maintained in the area. As a matter of fact, the decision was made while this single flight was in the air, prompting the Boeing 747 to make a u-turn back to Paris for it’s passengers and crew.
United had two daily flights from Newark, N.J. which landed in Israel, and for now both of those are cancelled.
After the horribly tragic Malaysia Airlines incident last week, airlines worldwide are being more and more cautious with what airspace they occupy. If tragedies can be avoided by simply saying no, then that’s all the better.
