Rosamund Pike is the latest actress announced for ITV’s new Thunderbirds series, reports Digital Spy.
According to Variety, Pike will voice the infamous Lady Penelope in the series, which will “use a mix of CGI animation and live-action miniature sets.”
The actress said, “I’m very excited to bring Lady Penelope’s wry wit and taste for adventure to a new generation,” adding “The scripts are modern, very fresh and very funny. We’re all eagerly anticipating our next stint in the recording studio!”
Variety revealed that, “Kayvan Novak (Fonejacker) will voice inventor Brains whilst Tracy brothers Gordon and John are both played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Love Actually). Rasmus Hardiker (Saxondale) has been cast as both the youngest and oldest Tracy brothers Alan and Scott and David Menkin will voice the fifth Tracy brother Virgil.”
It was also announced that Merlin star Angel Coulby will voice the character Kayo, who will be a friend of the Tracey brothers, and David Graham will also reprise his role as Parker in the series. Graham said, “I am triple chuffed to be on board the new series of Thunderbirds Are Go! and reprising y role of dear old Parker wit such a distinguished cast.” He also added, “My driving skills are in good nick and I am delighted to be behind the wheel again with M’lady. Cheerio!”
Thunderbirds, was first broadcast in 1965 on ITV and revolved around the Tracy family and their emergency rescue service.
The new 26-episode series will air on ITV and the CITV in 2015.
