As someone who wrote his first song – “The Only Girl” – for his Valentine in the third grade, it’s safe to say that Rudy Touzet has always had a strong interest in music and song-writing. He later took to journaling his thoughts about life, love and everything in between, using everything he wrote down as a way to hone his craft. Since first making his debut on the professional music scene last year, the results so far – singles “Contigo”, “Take It As A Win” and “I Don’t Know” – have been rather impressive and, with an undeniable ability to blend great lyrics with pulsating beats, Rudy is a real newcomer for all music fans to watch. His latest single “Fatal Attraction”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, is a rather head-nodding, rhythmic number that will have you fighting not to click or snap your fingers along to – somewhat reminiscent, albeit a little slower, of Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” era, and easily his strongest release to date. We spoke with Rudy to find out about the inspiration behind the track and what fans can expect from him and his music in the future.
Was there a particular “Fatal Attraction” of your own that inspired the single?
My “Fatal Attraction” was at a 4th of July party and I ended up hanging out with this woman for the rest of the night who was twice my age. It was cool to write about and expanding on that idea, but it was just so surprising to me that, that was my experience and that was how the night ended.
How does “Fatal Attraction” contrast from your previous singles?
I think this song sounds a lot more like my voice and the songs I have coming out this year. Lyrically, the song is more obscure than “I Don’t Know” and I think it shows off more of my range when it comes to my voice. “Fatal Attraction” is a faster song and has more of a mature storyline where you can picture the situation through the lyrics. It’s essentially a build up from “I Don’t Know” and the song puts you in my place and you can feel and hear my experience.
What can fans expect from your new music in the months ahead?
A lot more of it! I have a bunch of songs coming and a bunch of content for my new music. All these songs are completely different from each other, but each song will build from one another and they all kind of work together when it comes to their sound and message.
If you wanted listeners to take one thing away from your music, what would it be?
I definitely want listeners to dance to these next upcoming songs. My goal as an artist is to get a reaction out of the people listening. Whether that’s physically or mentally. I want people to take away and find that similar story or situation that I write about. I want to bring people together like that whether it’s through dancing and singing my songs or just listening and relating to the lyrics.
