Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has broken into the music industry- with a song from his new animated movie, Postman Pat.

The movie is based on a long-running British stop-motion animated television series. Grint voices Josh, who competes in a singing competition against the title character.

The character singing doesn’t even sound like him; there seems to be a great disconnect between his speaking voice and singing voice, a fact not lost on Grint himself.

“I’m not convinced it’s me,” he told the BBC. On the song he performed, he had this to say: “It is quite an easy, catchy song but I just did it because I thought it would be quite fun but they have obviously done some kind of auto-tuning.”

The song, titled Lightning, is very catchy, and with its infectious pop tune, it wouldn’t sound out of place in a One Direction album.

Grint himself sounds like he belongs to a boy band! I mean, check it out for yourself and have a listen below.

So what do you think of all of this? Did Rupert Grint do a good job in the movie’s soundtrack? Are you as surprised as we were with his voice?
