On Monday, Ryan Reynolds gave Deadpool fans their first look at a new character for Deadpool 2. The movie is set for release June 1st, 2018, but Reynolds is well underway with hyping his 6 million Instagram followers, revealing Cable as a character.
Cable’s reveal was the second reveal Ryan Reynolds made for Deadpool 2.
Josh Brolin will be fulfilling the role of Cable in the anticipated sequel. Ryan tweeted, “We all have that one, grumpy, heavily armed Uncle from the future. #PremiumCable”.

On Brolin’s Instagram, he said, “Now offering 25 percent off your next autopsy. ?? #youremine #deadpool.” Brolin’s Instagram has seen a plethora of content for fans as he prepared for the role. There have been pictures and videos of him working out for the action character. There were no makeup or costume tests, however, and Monday’s reveal as the first look at the character’s scars and cybernetic eye. Brolin only shared the below photo of creating the prosthetic.

The character also bears a cybernetic arm, which can be seen in Reynold’s second post about Cable, as well as his large gun and teddy bear (that’s right, teddy bear). Cable has the ability for “probability-altering.”

Cable appeared alongside Deadpool in the comics.
Cable was a long standing member of the X-Force team, which historically has fought alongside and against Deadpool. In the comics, Cable is the son of Cyclops and the clone Madelyne Pryor. In the comics, he is sent back from the future. It is unclear if Cable is to be an antagonist or alongside Deadpool in the sequel movie.
Ryan Reynolds has teased other Deadpool 2 content on his social media.
There was originally a photo of Deadpool in front of the X-Mansion, as seen in the first film. Last Monday, Reynolds tweeted the first look at Domino, played by Zazie Beetz.
