Ryan Shupe & The RubberBand Put A Modern Twist On “We Three Kings”

What’s the holiday season without holiday music? It’s like having said holiday without a Christmas dinner – it’s just not the same without it. Nationally touring bluegrass and country rock group Ryan Shupe & the RubberBand recently dropped their own collection of holiday songs, EP In Bethlehem, and PopWrapped are delighted to premiere the video for one of the tracks – their cover of the Christmas classic “We Three Kings.”

The video features Ryan and his four-piece band rockin’ out to their modern-day funkified rendition of the 1857 Christmas carol, while the song includes a mandolin solo by Shupe and a banjo solo by band member Craig Miner, both of which are delivered with impressive aplomb.

Shupe says of the song: “I love this rocking, acouti-funky, grooving version of ‘We Three Kings.’  It’s super-fun to perform live with the jazzy unison lines and it has some really great harmonies in the chorus.”

In addition to “We Three Kings,” the In Bethlehem EP, which was produced by Shupe himself and mixed by two-time Grammy Award winner and multi-platinum album songwriter Silvio Richetto, includes a rendition of “Angels We Have Heard on High” as well as original tracks “The Night that Christ was Born” and title track “In Bethlehem,” an acapella song that the band recorded live at a concert in St. George, UT.
