Digital Spy reports Samsung has massively reduced the price of their curved OLED TV, from 15 million won to 9.9 million.
The price drop for the 55-inch screen was possible due to improved manufacturing yields, Korea Times reports (via Digital Spy). This goes for pre-price-drop purchases as well.
Current owners of the curved OLED TV will be receiving a refund to make up the difference in the original sale.
Could it just be a coincidence that the price drop occurred around the same time LG put their own wide screens on the market?
They are currently a new line of 4K televisions, smaller versions of its 55 inch and 65 inch TVs. They have the same resolution, but to balance out the cheaper price some features were left out. This includes a camera and motorized 4.1 speaker.
