Say Goodbye to the Pont Des Arts Bridge and All Those ‘Love Locks’

My hopeless romantic heart feels broken.

Every internet loving, wonder lusting, hopeless romantic has dreamt of going to Paris with their soulmate and placing a lock on the Pont Des Arts Bridge to signify their eternal love.

BUT NOW, THAT’S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN… And I’m gutted.

It was announced over the weekend the Paris Authorities were going to remove locks from the bridge completely, under the claim that the bridge is becoming structurally unsafe.

There are an estimated one million locks on the Pont Des Arts Bridge, weighing in at 45 tons AND part of the Pont Des Arts Bridge did collapse last June.

Safety first, I guess, no matter how heart breaking it is. It has been reported that the removal of the ‘Love Locks’ is set to begin today, June 1, 2015.

Secretly, I’m wondering if the removal of the ‘Love Locks’ will effect the couples that placed them there… Hmm.
