Schitt’s Creek: 06×09, Rebound

After last week’s heartbreaking episode of Schitt’s Creek, Alexis, sorry, Lexi, is on the rebound after her breakup with Ted.

After last week’s heartbreaking episode of Schitt’s Creek, Alexis, sorry, Lexi, is on the rebound after her breakup with Ted. When Alexis returns home from a date with Arthur, who is roughly Johnny’s age, her family becomes concerned. Arthur calls Alexis (how 2001) the next day and they decide to go to a jazz festival. Johnny runs into the two of them in the cafe and talks to Arthur while Alexis is in the bathroom. He expresses his feelings about the age difference and telling him that Alexis is in a vulnerable place right now. Later, Johnny finds Alexis upset and throwing things around the motel after Arthur told her they needed to end things. Johnny’s not too upset about this. But Alexis is. Alexis admits that she was just looking for something, anything, to distract her from the fact that her heart has been broken into a million pieces. Johnny says he was just trying to help her since he wasn’t there for her in the past.

Meanwhile, Jocelyn approaches Patrick and David about a job at Rose Apothecary. David is against the idea because it’s not Jocelyn’s brand, but the two of them give her a chance. In one afternoon at the store, Jocelyn sells more products than David and Patrick have all week with her chipper smile, connection to the customers, and telling them to “have a rosy day”. David hates to admit it, but he agrees that Jocelyn is doing well and offers her a permanent position. But Jocelyn turns down the offer. She says their store is just not for her.

With all the success of the Crows movie, Moira did an interview in People magazine. In the interview, Moira says that Schitt’s Creek is the last place she’d ever want to end up. This offends the locals and results in the Rose family car being egged and angry townspeople outside town hall holding signs saying “We’re really unhappy with you, Moira” and “We are not angry—we are disappointed”. Moira smooths things over and tells them that deep down she really believes there worse places to be.

The episode wraps up with an ad for tourism in Schitt’s Creek. Moira takes a tour of the town showing off the cafe (including the massive menus), the Apothecary, and the motel. The ad may not do much for the local businesses, considering Moira was highlighting how quiet the Apothecary was, but Council approved. Maybe Schitt’s Creek really isn’t such a bad place after all.
