SDCC ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Panel Drops Season 2 Trailer

After exclusive photos appear, ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ ups the game with the first trailer for season 2! Watch!

New photos came first, but today at Star Trek: Discovery’s panel they dropped the first trailer for season two and some of our suspicions were very correct about the direction the show is going in. This new trailer is even more epic then we could have predicted though, bringing in the show’s cannon at a new level. Watch the trailer here then continue for our thoughts and some of the information fans learned during the panel.

Ok, first things first, Captain Pike (Anson Mount) is much more involved then we’d thought prior to the trailer. Mount looks like he’ll make an excellent Pike, seen in the original gold uniform below.

The new threat deals with some red dots out in space which Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) believes are related to her adoptive brother, Spock. According to Pike, Spock has taken leave but will help if they truly need his assistance. We are really hoping they do because having Spock somewhere in this series would be amazing, and Kurtzman shared we will see him at some point during the q and a. Our favorites are all returning like: Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman), Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp), and Saru (Doug Jones).

Fans, at the panel, asked if Captain Lorca (Jason Isaacs) would return for season 2, remember he was alternate all along and was killed, but we don’t know what happened to the real Lorca. Showrunner Alex Kurtzman replied, “Maybe,” way to be a big tease. We would absolutely love to see Lorca return, evil or good. Other questions involved the franchise as a whole and how the classic red shirt trope would fit in. Star Trek: Discovery shared a tweet with Rapp’s response.

Every bit of this news is amazing and we can’t wait for more, but what we really want is season 2! Bring it, we’re ready to boldly go where no Trek has gone before.
