Sean Bean has been tapped to star in a new science fiction film by Ridley Scott.
Titled The Martian, the movie will tell the story of an astronaut stranded in a Mars colony, who has to figure out a way to survive in the desolate landscape while waiting for NASA to organize a rescue. The film was adapted from an eBook by Andy Weir.
Sean Bean will be portraying the role of a NASA flight director, while the lead role of the astronaut will be played by Matt Damon. This hopefully means that Bean’s character would survive the film, but then again it is Sean Bean, so we can’t be too sure.
Joining them is a star studded cast who include Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Kate Mara , Kristin Wiig, and Michael Pena. Filming will begin in November.
