The full trailer for Sherlock Season 3 was released earlier today following the worldwide premiere of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special.

The trailer features clips previously released in teasers from the BBC along with new material for Sherlockians to analyze. John Watson’s reaction to Sherlock’s return was given considerable weight in the trailer, mustache close-up and all.
However, the most puzzling part of the trailer featured an unlikely character. A group of people are shown gathered in a room with one wall covered in sticky notes and string. One member is clad in a deerstalker, signature Belstaff coat and blue scarf. It is evident that this group is devoted to finding out what happened to Sherlock. The most surprising part of the trailer is that Anderson, the Forensics expert and Sherlock’s-sometimes-nemesis, is featured in this group. Almost unrecognizable with unkempt hair and a beard that hasn’t been seen since the Sherlock pilot, it is interesting that Anderson of all people would be involved in a group devoted to disproving Sherlock’s slanderous reputation as a fraud.
The trailer ends with everyone in the room receiving an overflow of text messages declaring that Sherlock is alive. It is well known that Sherlock likes to show off, and his return seems to include a good deal of dramatic flair.
Episode 1 of Season 3 of Sherlock will premiere on PBS in the United States on January 19th. A date has yet to be set by the BBC for the series’ premiere in the UK.
