Another year, another Shonda Rhimes show.
Just how long can this woman keep going? First Grey’s Anatomy, then Scandal, then most recently How To Get Away With Murder (all three of which, I believe, return on Thursday!), and now a new cRhime thriller The Catch.
The Catch follows the main character’s profession as a forensic consultant with a particular proclivity for exposing fraud. Likewise, in keeping with true Rhimesian fashion, the woman’s love life is…er…a tad bit complicated.
By which I mean incredibly complicated. Because drama. Good, good, sweet, delicious, savoury drama.
Her new beau is planning to con her, but she’s unaware of this, and that’s complicated when her lies complicate his con attempts.
ABC has also ordered a pilot from the creators of Gossip Girl, Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz, entitled Broad Squad. It revolves around the first four women to attain police officer status back at Boston’s Police Academy circa 1978. It is a drama.
The last two pilots are both comedies, entitled Chev & Bev, and The Untitled Dan Savage Project. The first one, starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, features them playing baby boomers enjoying their carefree retirement…until they are forced to raise their grandkids. The latter involves a loosely-based piece on the well-known columnist, in particular focusing upon his life taking a turn for the better when his son comes out.
