Simon & Simon actress Mary Carver passed away this month on October 18th after a brief illness at the age of 89. Her family recently announced her passing in a paid obituary that was placed in the Los Angeles Times.
Simon & Simon was a 1980s CBS sitcom about two private-detective brothers in San Diego. Carver played the mother on the show.
Though she was perhaps best known from that sitcom, Carver’s career spans over 60 long years. Feature films that credit her would includeProtocol (1984) with Goldie Hawn and Best Seller (1987) with James Woods. She also appeared in the 1990’s spider thriller or comedy,Arachnophobia where her character unfortunately and inevitably died due to a spider bite.
In the realm of television, Carver also dabbled in a few other shoes including The Donna Reed Show, The Twilight Zone, Gunsmoke, E.R. andStar Trek: Enterprise.
Her credits don’t end there because she was also able to display her talents on Broadway having starred in Out West of Eighth in 1951, The Shadow Box in 1977 and Fifth of July in the early 1980s. Carver also could have been seen off the stage and in the classroom at the University of Southern California where she taught in the theater department.
