Sleepy Hollow’s Second Season Gets Some Fresh Blood

War is coming to Sleepy Hollow for its second season this September, and it’s bringing a few new faces along with it.

Fans of FOX’s latest hit will remember that the first season ended with current captain Frank Irving behind bars. With Irving’s rep largely discredited to the public, someone else naturally needs to step in his shoes – at least for the time being. That person is Leena Reyes, the newest sheriff in town.

Executive producer Roberto Orci told E! News of Leena, “There’s a new sheriff in town. Obviously, Irving has been discredited and now he’s been taken upstate, so the Sleepy Hollow Police Department still has to be run by somebody and that person may not be as open as Irving was by the end of the season with Abbie and Crane… So somebody may be making their life very difficult.”

Sheriff Reyes will be portrayed by House of Cards veteran Sakina Jaffrey, who left her mark on the latter as White House Chief of Staff, Linda Vazquez.

Meanwhile, Matt Barr (Derek of One Tree Hill fame) will also be joining the show, also as a recurring cast member. He’ll be playing the role of Nick Hawley, a bounty hunter often described as “ruggedly handsome” who’ll be assisting Ichabod Crane and Sherriff Abbie Mills on a few occasions.

A large part of what made Sleepy Hollow a tremendous success during its first season was the natural chemistry between the entire cast. Ichabod and Abbie playing off of each other was great; but then you had Irving, Katrina and others working off of each other remarkably well, too. Hopefully that trend continues and Jaffrey and Barr will mark their entries into the series with a bang!
