You know JJ Abrams. Lens flare extraordinaire. Director of such movies as Star Trek and producer of the television show Lost. He’s also a writer, actor, and now…a novelist?

Last month, PopWrapped brought you the news that something “Strange” was heading down the Bad Robot production line and we’ve learned what it is.

It seems the trailer is for a novel simply titled S.

Bad Robot took to Twitter today to release a new trailer that gives us a little bit more insight, starting with a rewind of the previous clip and adding a bit more meat. However, if you’re wanting more answers, there’s not much there to glean from.

The trailer is as vague as the first, featuring a typewriter, an older man typing on it, and lots of camera flashes. It’s safe to assume the man typing is the man also providing the eery narration but with Abrams, it’s hard to tell.

The end of the very noir-esque preview of sorts, gives us one final clue: www.soonyouwillknow.com, which reveals a book, engraved with a big, medieval looking S. The novel, which is available for pre-order is written by Doug Dorst, but it’s from JJ Abrams – so are we looking a ghost writer in reverse?

Hard to tell.

The novel is set to release on October 29th and it looks like it may be one to pick up and read in the dark.

In the meantime, here is the new trailer:
