Sony’s PS4 Becomes The Fastest Selling Gaming Console In UK History

Sony’s new console, the PlayStation 4, has become the fastest-selling console in UK history after its debut on Friday, November 29th.

This new console sold over 250,000 units, sources told MCV, replacing the previous record holder PSP which sold 185,000 units back in 2005.

PS4 also helped increase the sales of games such as Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Need for Speed Rivals and Assassin’s Creed 4.

Sony UK managing director Fergal Gara recently told TechRadar that he sees a short life for PS4 due to the public’s constant appetite for new technology: “I think there’s reasons to believe that the next cycle might be shorter in markets such as the UK. It’s probably a sign of the times and how much has changed in seven years, but I think the willingness and the appetite to pick up new technology fast has probably changed quite a bit”.

It has been recently suggested that the console’s cloud streaming service would launch throughout the UK in 2015 and next year in the US.
