There’s 7-year-old first grader named Xavier over at the Cascade View Elementary, in Snohomish, Washington. Even though the school is supposed to provide the young man his meal at noon, it seems the lunch lady thought differently and denied handing him any kind of food.
Students with a negative account balance still have a right to free lunch, including a cheese sandwich, a drink and as many fruits or vegetables that they like. However, Xavier’s balance should be covered from state funds and his lunch should be free as well. Instead, his latest experience was nothing of that kind. According to what the kid had to say about the lunch lady’s actions:
“It was a sack lunch. It was in a bag. She was passing it around to everybody. The lunch lady said, ‘Guess what? You can’t have a lunch.’ She said that. She said I can’t have a lunch.”
His father, Eric, claimed that he had experienced similar events in his own childhood and didn’t find it very nice himself back in the day. He didn’t hide his madness over the incident, even considering removing his children from the school. For the time being, the Cascade View Elementary is still looking into the situation.
