Fine-as-ever Jake Gyllenhaal and the always lovely Rachel McAdams were at the Southpaw premiere in Toronto last night. Yup, in real life!
Rachel is a resident here and can be seen biking around downtown from time to time, but Jakey is a rare treat on Canadian soil. Better than an after-dinner cupcake or piece of warm apple pie, that’s for sure. He filmed his movie, Enemy, here a couple years ago, but kept a low profile during filming.

“What was it like pumping up for the role, Jake? How’d you get so ripped?” I bet that was the number one question on the roster.
The fans would have worded it a bit differently, though. Maybe, “Why didn’t you show up in full topless costume?” They were all thinking it, let’s be honest.
Southpaw also stars Forest Whitaker, Rita Ora, Tyrese Gibson, and 50 Cent. It’s getting amazing reviews so far.
The premise of the movie is about a successful boxer that retires at the height of his fame to spend more time with his family. Tragedy strikes, and he then tries to return to the boxing world with the help of his trainer.
Eminem’s new single is on the soundtrack as well.
Southpaw opens all over the USA and Canada on July 24th!
