Staff Writer Who doesn’t love a good comedy about family? The eclectic personalities, the hilarious clashes and the sheer star-power these films can bring to the screen is amazing. There is another one coming to cinemas this year that stars a combination of television and film royalty.
This is Where I Leave You is directed by Shawn Levy, who has directed some of the most profitable comedies of the last few years, including Cheaper by the Dozen, The Pink Panther, Date Night and the box-office film series Night at the Museum. The film also stars Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Corey Stoll and Adam Driver as feuding siblings, with Jane Fonda as their foxy mother and dramatic actresses Connie Britton and Rose Byrne (who has actually proved herself quite apt at comedy in the last few years) also are a part of the cast.
The film at the surface appears to be a quirky comedy – you have the hilarious Fey and Bateman, the deadpan Corey Stoll and the goofy Adam Driver, and mix that with Jane Fonda throwing out sassy one-liners, and humorous situations, and you’ve got a hilarious comedy. But the film has a deeper meaning that many films about families try and convey – we’re all different in our ways, and we all have our issues, but we’re a family and that’s all that matters.
