Star Trek Beyond Gets A Full Trailer

The new full trailer for Star Trek Beyond, the third film of the Star Trek reboot, has finally been released. Take a look at the video here.

Hey there Trekkies, we hope you haven’t given up hope on the Star Trek universe after Into the Darkness. We know it was a bit of a let down and definitely just an action film but let’s give those folks at Paramount one more shot! A new trailer for the third film of the reboot has dropped and we have some thoughts. First, take a look at the trailer for Star Trek Beyond.

The trailer begins with a simple shot of the Enterprise and Kirk (Chris Pine). There is some dialogue from Kirk regarding why he joined Starfleet to begin with. Bones (Karl Urban) is with him and he reminds Kirk that he joined to see if he could be as good as his father. It is some pretty emotional stuff paired with very elegant piano riffs.

Then the trailer gets thrown into action mode and the team heads back out into space. Now, don’t quote us on this, but it appears that somehow the new villain played by Idris Elba kidnaps some of Kirk’s crew. It seems to be primarily Spock (Zachary Quinto) and Uhura (Zoe Saldana) but we can’t be one hundred percent sure. The trailer leads us to believe that Kirk, Bones and Scotty (Simon Pegg), along with some alien woman played by Sofia Boutella, are on a mission to save the rest of the crew. Also, the Enterprise gets destroyed… again.

So, what do you think? Will Star Trek Beyond make up for the last Star Trek film or is it looking like another action flick with no heart? We think the fact that Kirk’s crew’s lives are in jeopardy will bring the soul back into the franchise. Sound off in the comments with your thoughts on the trailer and on Idris Elba! And maybe give it a second watch, because a lot happens in that trailer.
