After a rather successful 2020, global pop duo Static & Ben El have continue to prove their artistic prowess with the release of new single “Shake Ya Boom Boom”, which features one of the biggest bands of modern times – The Black Eyed Peas.  PopWrapped caught up with the duo to find out more about the collaboration and to discover what else they’ve got lined up this year.

Hi guys – thanks for taking the time to speak with us today. What have you been up to so far in 2021?

Thanks for having us! 2021 has got off to an amazing start. We got to work on a whole new EP and have got some amazing collaborations ready to share this year.

Your song “Shake Ya Boom Boom” has been incredibly well-received. How does it feel now the track is out in the world?

It definitely feels amazing to see our track becoming such a consensus on TikTok and in so many different countries – we really do feel blessed.

It must have been super exciting to team up with a group as iconic as Black Eyed Peas. How did this collaboration come about?

Well, Haim Saban let Will listen to the song and he loved it. He immediately had some suggestions on improving the track and we facetimed a few times until we were all happy with the song. Will also came up with the idea of the video, changed the beat of the whole song around and everything is history since then.

Would you consider Black Eyed Peas to be one of your sonic influences? Who else would you point towards?

We could definitely call them a major influence since the band is very iconic worldwide. Any other huge major worldwide act can also be an influence and we also love everything that’s happening in the states now musically. 

You have in incredible following in your home country of Israel. What is the music scene like there and are there any upcoming talents we should be aware of?

The music scene here is full of talent – an amazing mix of ethnic Middle Eastern music and world pop influences. You should definitely watch out for Murgui who is also signed with us to SMG.

Finally then, what else is in store for Static & Ben El this year?

We are looking towards an EP release, a few major TV looks, some great collabs and hopefully a trip to the states for some shows soon.
