Step Aside, Angelina: Broadway Star Kristin Chenoweth Will Play Maleficent In Disney’s “Descendants”

Angelina Jolie is slated to have some competition. Broadway, TV, and music star Kristin Chenoweth has been chosen to play the mother of the villain from Sleeping Beauty, the dangerously powerful Maleficent herself.

The Disney Channel film Descendants revolves around the children of famous Disney villains. Chenoweth is going to co-star alongside Dove Cameron, who plays her teen daughter, Mal. The extremely famous Kenny Ortega is directing the pic, which will begin production later this month for a 2015 premiere.

Kristin Chenoweth is considered to be a Broadway regular, but most recently has been seen in Glee as April Rhodes. She’ll also be performing at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, May 3rd in”The Evolution Of A Soprano” concert.
