Stephen Colbert’s The Colbert Report finally broke The Daily Show‘s winning streak at last night’s 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, according to The Huffington Post.
The Comedy Central show received the Best Variety Series award at last night’s Emmy Award’s Ceremony, ending Jon Stewart’s 10 year streak as the winner of this category.
In addition to taking home Best Variety Series, Colbert’s late night show also won for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series.
The show was nominated for an overall total of six Emmys this year, including Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series, Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Picture Editing for Short-Form Segments and Variety Specials and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special.
The Colbert Report airs weekdays from Monday to Friday on Comedy Central at 11:30 p.m. ET.
When you take into consideration the repeat competition every year for these categories, it’s refreshing when someone else wins for a change. Do you agree with the Academy’s choices this year?
