Well, it looks like not everyone is a fan of the hugely popular British ITV series Downtown Abbey.
Stephen Fry has described the much loved show as being “horrible” in his new autobiography, More Fool Me.
“The excellent balance of Upstairs Downstairs stands up very well against the ghastly snobbery and tacked-on noblesse oblige of that horrible Abbey programme,”
He continues by writing, “I say this guiltily, having actor friends I like very much who play in it, and play excellently, but truth must out.”
But this is not the first time that Fry has shown his dislike for the show before. Back in 2012, the British actor/writer even tweeted about his distaste for it, saying:
After bemoaning and criticizing most British television productions even citing some as “chicken nugget,” and suggesting that they could learn a thing or two from the American shows, this should come as no surprise to fans of the QI host.
But judging by the amount of fans, awards and positive recognitions Downtown Abbey have earned, I am sure one little critique by Fry will not damper the ratings for this successful, British period drama.
