Jenny Geng

Staff Writer

Fans of Stephen King novels will be happy to hear that acclaimed 1986 horror novel It will be adapted into two films.

It follows seven children, the Losers’ Club, as they attempt to destroy a dangerous being called “It”, which shape-shifts into what its victims fear the most before killing them. You will most certainly remember when he appears as the clown Pennywise, causing many a nightmare among children and adults alike. Many years later, “It” comes back and the Loser’s Club, now adults, try to kill the monster once and for all.

Originally intended to be a single film, It will be directed and co-written by Cary Fukunaga, who also directed a movie adaptation of the book Jane Eyre last year.  The other co-writer is Chase Palmer. Producers include Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg.

Warner Bros. announced their acquisition of film rights in 2009. It has also been previously adapted into a film in 1990 and a TV series in 1998.
