Steven Spielberg has dropped out as director of American Sniper, reports Deadline!
The man responsible for successful films such as Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan and Schindler’s List, had first signed up to direct the adaptation of Chris Kyle’s autobiography back in May, but is now pulling out reportedly due to budget issues.
The director has been looking for his follow-up film to 2012’s Oscar-winner Lincoln, but so far he has twice now encountered issues. In addition to this latest set-back, earlier in 2013, he put an indefinite delay on Robopocalypse as he wanted to re-develop the script.
Bradley Cooper, however, is still set to star in American Sniper, as decorated Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.
Meanwhile, Hollywood is still waiting to see what Spielberg takes on as his next project!
