American Horror Story: Coven is gaining a White Witch and not just any white witch… THE White Witch. Stevie Nicks.
Show creator Ryan Murphy tweeted earlier today (November 12):
A few hours later Miss Nicks tweeted:
Those familiar with the series will know that Lily Rabe’s character, Misty Day, idolises Nicks and is the first one to call her “The White Witch” while listening to the song “Rhiannon”, telling Zoe (Taissa Farmiga) “Listen to the lyrics, This song was her anthem…”
Nicks wrote “Rhiannon” in 1974 after seeing the name in a book titled Triad and deciding that the name was so pretty, that she wanted to write a song about a girl called Rhiannon. After writing the song, Nicks learned that the name Rhiannon originated from a Welsh goddess and was surprised to discover that the lyrics to the song, applied to the Welsh Rhiannon as well.
This led to years of controversy and innuendo that Nicks was in fact a witch and an active member in the practice of Wicca, a fact that she denies.
According to E!, sources within AHS have said that Nicks “comes to meet her biggest fan. And maybe sing with her” and that we can expect to see her pop up in episode ten.
Whatever Miss Nicks’ personal beliefs, I for one cannot wait to see her make her acting debut on AHS: Coven.
American Horror Story: Coven airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on FX in the US and on Tuesdays at 10pm on FOX in the UK.
