Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan Officiates Her First Same-Sex Wedding

Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan made history for herself this week, performing her first same-sex marriage ceremony.

Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan performed a same-sex marriage for the first time Monday.

The marriage took place in Maryland between her former law clerk, Michael Reich, and his husband Patrick Pearsall.

However, it wasn’t the first time a Supreme Court Justice has officiated an LGBT wedding. Her fellow Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has performed several before, and so has former Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

So, my new life goal is to be important enough to have a Supreme Court Justice officiate my wedding. Hopefully soon the Court will rule all members of the LGBT community can get married across the country!
