Suspect Stops Police Chase To Play With Kittens

A suspect fleeing the scene of his latest hit smashes into a police car, resulting in a police chase. He then stopped to play with some cats.

This has to be the dumbest or the cutest reason for a suspect to get caught by police.

Daniel Pinedo Velapatino was on the run after allegedly stealing $6,000 from a friend after doing drugs together in a Boca Raton hotel room. However, Velapatino’s problems didn’t start until he crashed his Lexus into a cop car, which led to a police chase.

He fled on foot and almost got away by ducking through a Boca resident’s sliding door, but Velapatino seemed to have gotten a little…distracted.  According to WPBF, the owner of the house came home to find him “lying on the living room floor, playing with her cats.”

“I said, ’Excuse me, can I help you?’” Noonan said. “He said, ‘Oh, I’m so sorry. Next door, I’m mowing the lawn. Do you mind if I have a glass of water?’ “

She and her husband grew suspicious and called police, resulting in Velapatino fleeing once again. In a final attempt to escape, he jumped in a canal, where he was eventually captured by a police boat.

According to the police Velapatino stole the money because he owed his mother $2,000.

…And he would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn’t been for those meddling cats!
