Syfy is reportedly working on an adaptation of the 1995 film 12 Monkeys. According to Hollywood Reporter, the cable network is working on a 90-minute pilot that could eventually lead to a series.
12 Monkeys was a successful film that starred both Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis, in which a convicted criminal (Willis) went back in time to find out more information about a virus that had forced his people to live their lives underground.
Right now, it isn’t known what exactly the parallels between the film and the series will be, but apparently the idea was brought forward by the original producers of the film, Chuck Roven and Richard Suckle.
Mark Stern, Syfy President of Original Programming, said “We have a great pilot. We’re now flushing out what the rest of the series might be.”
The series is set to be directed by 24‘s Jon Cassar and written by Nikita writers Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett.
Judging from the picture above, at least Brad Pitt is very excited about the idea! But how about you? Let us know!
