The made for TV Syfy Channel flick has come a long way. Far from a hit ratings wise, Sharknado owes most of its success to Twitter. The flick even managed to make its way into 200 Regal Theaters for a midnight showing on August 2nd.

The cast, especially Reid, have been very vocal about the film. Reid has been one of the biggest supporters for a sequel, even asking fans for their input on ideas for Sharknado 2. The producers had input of their own, Ian Ziering  (Finley “Fin” Shepherd) is the only star they wish to reprise their role.

A rep for the Syfy Channel has come forward to state that no final casting decisions have been.

In response to the project Thomas Vitale, executive vice president of programming and original movies at Syfy, said, “Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm — on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel.”

Maybe Tara can start a twitter campaign to reprise her role. Apparently, when the Twitterverse speaks Syfy Channel listens.
