Target Bears Its Pride With Vocal Pro-LGBT Support

Way too often has a CEO come out as bigoted and uncaring. Now, however, gay rights has a champion in the business world by way of Target.

The movement for LGBTQ equality is just now starting to see big-time results in the modern age, but oftentimes, that isn’t reflected in the actions of large corporations. Way too often has a CEO come out as bigoted and uncaring (Urban Outfitters is both allegedly homophobic and accidentally racist!). Now, however, gay rights has a champion in the business world by way of Target.

The Minnesotan retail giant announced its support for the cause in light of local circuit judges overturning a ban on same-sex marriage in its state. Jodee Kozlak, Target’s Executive Vice President of Human Resources, had this to say about the event on the company’s blog:

It is our belief that everyone should be treated equally under the law, and that includes rights we believe individuals should have related to marriage.

Meanwhile, the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) is launching a boycott against Target in lieu of its recent support for the gay community. NOM president Brian Brown even claims that, rather deliberately, Target “has chosen to support this radical agenda, and to insult me and other pro-family Americans like me.”

The NOM has previously launched similar boycotts against companies like Starbucks for releasing similar sentiments as Target. We see where that got ’em, as Starbucks clearly isn’t a world-renowned, money-reaping giant of its industry.
