Following in the footsteps of Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, originator John Cameron Mitchell and currently Darren Criss, “Rent” alum Taye Diggs will step into the ever so fabulous heels of Hedwig!!
That’s right.
Diggs will be taking over the role after Criss in the Broadway production of ‘Hedwig & the Angry Inch’!!
Producer David Binder spoke with the ‘New York Times’ about Diggs’ casting and said:
Taye is fantastic — he has theater cred, he has pop culture cred, he can sing, he can act, he can dance, he’s smart and he’s sexy,”
“That’s why we cast him.”
This will be Taye’s first major Broadway role since 2004!! He has starred in “Rent”, “Wicked”, “Chicago” and “Carousel”.
Darren’s final performance is scheduled for July 19th.
