Taylor Swift Gets Ranked Most Charitable Celebrity Of 2013

Taylor Swift has taken the top spot on DoSomething.org’s annual Top 20 Celebs Gone Good list. The list recognizes celebrities, their acts of generosity and the charitable impact they have made throughout the year.

So what got Taylor Swift at the top of the list for the second year in a row? On her 24^th birthday, earlier this month, she donated $100,000 to the Nashville Symphony which has had a rough year financially. She also performed at the Winter White Gala in London which benefitted Centrepoint, an organization that helps homeless youth.

One Direction took the #2 spot on the list by joining the UK’s charity Comic Relief and volunteered in Ghana. Harry Styles and Liam Payne of 1D also helped raise over $800,000 for cancer research.

Beyonce, who came in at #3, is always known for her charitable efforts and philanthropy. This year she was involved with the “Chime for Change” campaign to spread women empowerment and women’s rights.

Other celebs on the list include the late Paul Walker, Ryan Seacrest, Kerry Washington and Demi Lovato. Justin Bieber took the #20 spot on the list for his efforts to make over 200 Make-A-Wish kids’ dreams come true and for raising money to Typhoon Haiyan victims.

Naomi Hirabayashi, CMO of DoSomething.org, found it pretty amazing to see that the top two spots are held by celebs under 25. “For the first time, 50 percent of the list is age 30 or younger. This rising generation is using their money and star power for good.”
