Taylor Swift’s latest single “Sweeter than Fiction” has been released as the lead track from the One Chance soundtrack.
One Chance is a British film based on the life of Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts, starring James Corden and Julie Waters.
“Sweeter than Fiction” was written by Swift and Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff, and Swift’s inspiration came after watching an early screening of the film at the suggestion of executive producer Simon Cowell: “Getting to see the struggles and the triumphs of someone who never stopped chasing what he was after really inspired me. It’s a beautiful movie and I just wanted to share it with everybody,” Swift explains in the preview video for the song.
“It’s a movie that really moved me in a way that I haven’t been moved in a long time.”
Swift recently revealed she fought her label and management to release this new track, as they wanted her to take a break in between albums: “I had to fight to do this because I try to take a break in between albums and try to give people a minute to not hear me on the radio.
“I had to go around and ask people, ‘Can I please, please put something out?’ even though we’re supposed to be going quiet. My management my label were like, ‘No new music until the next album comes out’. Then I saw the movie and I was like, ‘I have to be a part of this.’”
