Phillip Noyce is certainly amassing a stellar cast for his upcoming movie, The Giver.
Yesterday we brought you the news that Katie Holmes had signed on to play the mother of Jonas (played by Brenton Thwaites), the film’s lead character. Today we have news of another big name who has signed on the dotted line.
Variety reports that Taylor Swift has joined the all-star cast that includes Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges and Alexander Skarsgard. The “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer will take on the role of Rosemary. She is the last mentee of The Giver (Bridges) before he meets Jonas.
The Giver is based on Lois Lowry’s hit 1993 young adult novel of the same name.
This is not Swift’s first foray onto the big screen. She has previously had a small role in 2010’s lackluster rom-com Valentine’s Day and was the voice of Audrey in The Lorax.
Filming of The Giver starts up at the beginning of October in South Africa. It is expected to hit cinemas on August 15, 2014.
