Tennessee Police Use Trucks To Stop Texting And Driving

Tenn. police are using trucks to catch texting drivers. At a high vantage point, officers can see even those who keep their phone below the wheel.

For those of you who are still texting and driving (even after reading the cold hard facts as to why it’s a really bad idea): you’re no longer fooling anyone.

Tennessee police are now using trucks to catch avid driver/texters in the act. At a high vantage point, officers can see even those who sneakily keep their phone below the wheel.

“It’s not a covert operation,” Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Lt. Bill Miller tells Fox News. “We’re not trying to hide it. We’re very proud of it.” Trucks are very clearly labeled with the THP logo on the side.

This is not the first time that law enforcement has gotten creative in order to prevent more people from checking their phones while driving. In other areas, some have posed as construction workers to catch guilty motorists in the act.

Lt. Miller clarifies that this is not a way to make any drivers uncomfortable. “We know that the truck is saving lives,” he continues. “We know that beyond a shadow of a doubt.”

Now will you please put your phone away and keep your eyes on the road?
