Calling all Whovians! Prepare for some wicked news.
Matt Smith, best known as the 11th Doctor on Doctor Who, is all set to join the Terminator franchise in a “major role,” Skydance confirmed on Twitter yesterday. His role starts out as a minor one, as in Terminator: Genesis, which is currently being filmed, but his part is expected to develop into one of the central characters in the second and third films.
We don't have a TARDIS, but we do have a Time Lord: we're pleased to welcome Matt Smith to the cast of #Terminator.

Earlier this year, it was also reported that Game Of Thrones’ Khaleesi (Emilia Clarke) would be joining the cast of Terminator. Terminator: Genesis, directed byAlan Taylor, is scheduled to release in July 2015, and has Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, and Jai Courteney in leading roles.
According to Paramount’s official press statement, Smith’s character has a “strong connection to John Connor.”
