The Grammys has always been a night to remember for music and fashion lovers alike, but in this article, I’ll be focusing on the best and worst dressed of the star-studded night.
WORST DRESSED:
Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh in Adidas
Nope. Just not digging either look. This isn’t a sports event; it’s the Grammys!
Kim Kardashian in Jean Paul Gaultier and Kanye West in Balmain
Yet another couple fashion catastrophe. Kim looks like she’s ready for a trip to the spa while Kanye’s sporting some boots that remind me of Robin Hood. I love the detailing on her, uh…dress(?). But, I don’t think it’s Grammys appropriate.
Ed Sheeran
While I absolutely love his music, this look isn’t on par; he looks like he rolled out of bed, too. Also, a big no to the sneakers.
Maddie Zeigler and Sia in Giorgio Armani
I’m aware that Sia is continuing to cover up her face, but can she even see from that wig? Maddie looks a tad bit better, but I think she’s dressing too old for her age.
Miley Cyrus
While she’s looking fresh and stunning in a simple black dress, I do not like the overly-excessive cut-outs that are literally everywhere, except the one on her back. It just ruins the dress overall. -sigh-
Madonna in Givenchy Haute Couture
Looks more like an outfit for Halloween than for the Grammy’s, but hey, it’s Madonna after all.
Iggy Azalea
While I do enjoy the shade of blue on her dress, what is up with her hair? I hope a bird doesn’t make its nest there. Note to the hairdresser: please no. I also dislike the see-through cut-out towards the bottom of the dress. She doesn’t need it. The dress doesn’t need it, either. She already has the lovely subtlety of the cut-outs at the top of her dress – we don’t need to overdo it. As much as I like some parts of her look, sadly it belongs to the worst-dressed list in this year’s Grammys.
BEST DRESSED:
Ariana Grande in Atelier Versace
Still rocking that high ponytail, the singer looks glamorous in her white and silver accented gown. She keeps the makeup and accessories to a minimum, and her toned skin compliments the gown even more.
Ciara in Alexandre Vauthier Couture
All I can say is W-O-W. I’m not a huge fan of ruffles, but this is ruffles done right. She keeps it simple by donning a few accessories paired with her fierceness. Rawr.
Chrissy Teigen in Emilio Pucci and John Legend in Dolce & Gabbana
Cute couple alert! The couple’s outfits complement each other so well. Chrissy’s gown has some strategic cut-outs which gives it some sex-appeal, but still keep it classy. I’m loving those strappy heels I see! John’s entire outfit is, well, what can I say, legend. The simplicity of the tux, shirt, and shoes make this outfit a winner.
Gwen Stefani in Atelier Versace
Is she drinking from the fountain of youth? She never seems to age! Gwen’s outfit and makeup are on point. Her red nails provide a nice little distraction towards her jewelry and her glowy skin.
Jhené Aiko in an Alberta Ferretti dress and Jimmy Choo shoes
The complexion of her skin with the soft colors of the dress are a great combination. I wish I could have seen her shoes, but I’m sure they’re as delightful. This is probably one of my personal favorites.
Meghan Trainor in Galia Lahav
For her first Grammy walk, she looks amazing. The tight mini accentuates her curves, while the strategic sheer and lace covers up ‘in all the right places’. She most certainly brought the ‘bass’ to the Grammys!
Zendaya in Vivienne Westwood
I’ve only heard of the Disney star on the show Shake It Up, and now she’s becoming a force to reckon with, fashion-wise. She most certainly is a strong contender in the fashion department. This off-the shoulder dress pops with lively colors ranging from turquoise to gold. Her new hairstyle completes the look. I’m not too sure about her shoes, but that’s just me. I’m looking forward to seeing her style evolve.
Katy Perry in a Zuhair Murad dress and Sophia Webster shoes
The singer said that she got the dress to ‘shine like a diamond’, and she definitely did shine. Those purple tresses make her stand out even more, in a very good way. Thankfully, there are no sharks around, if you know what I mean.
Rita Ora in Prada
It looks like Katy wasn’t the only one shining–literally. Prada is one of my favorite brands, and this dress is one of the many reasons why I love it so much. It’s great that she kept the accessories to a minimum since the dress is an accessory in itself. I’m not a huge fan of high necklines, but this one is perfect.
Nicki Minaj in Tom Ford
She’s keepin’ it classy in a body-hugging dress. Her accessories provide a contrast with the dress, but it looks great on the rapper. I’m super glad that Nicki’s style changed into this vs. years ago…
Jennifer Hudson in Tom Ford
Yet another beautiful Tom Ford dress, but this time it’s on Jennifer. The crisp white makes her glow along with that smile. Keep it up!
Katharine McPhee in Emilio Pucci
The singer looks quite lovely in a soft-colored dress with strategic cutouts. It keeps her looking elegant while making her look sexy at the same time. The only thing I don’t like are those are the silver-colored ‘things’ on the top of her dress. I don’t feel it matches the dress very well, and it should probably be a a different color instead.
Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell
Is it just me or does she look like a mermaid? Whether or not she was going for that look, she looks fantastic! The dress accentuates her curves with the addition of a plunging neckline, featuring her décolletage adorned with a green pendant.
Taylor Swift in Elie Saad
Oh goodness, Taylor. You never cease to impress me. Initially, I thought the dress looked odd at first; I’ve never seen anything like it before. But the star looks flawless in the mermaid color dress. Dat hair, doe.
Beyoncé in Proenza Schouler
You can never go wrong if you’re Beyoncé, nuff’ said.
Rihanna in a Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress and Chopard jewelry
Finally, we have Rihanna in this stunning gown. She looks like a princess from a fairytale, and she looks so happy wearing it, too! You can never be too old to be a princess.
