He’s Massachusetts born and raised, he’s independent, and most importantly, he is a force to be reckoned with in his genre. Producing, Composing, and Performing all his music – The China Blue is a one man crew that has one of the most unique sounds and we’re stoked to watch his journey.
In January 2020 he released his debut EP ‘Written In My Head, From My Bedroom’ for streaming, praised by The Sound Of Boston as “a consistent thread of electronic sound effects, heartbreak themes, and catchy melodies that are angsty yet upbeat”.
Riding off the momentum off his single Human, in October 2020 he released his most recent single Afford It, which was brought in amazing numbers – just reassuring The China Blue that what he is doing is working & it’s not time to slow down anytime soon. & he isn’t.
The China Blue is currently in production of a second EP slated for a spring 2021 release – sonically hinted with his short demo track Mistakes, including a music video and song genre that will be present in his upcoming work.
“Nervous was the first song I wrote while single after being in a long term relationship. Lyrically, it’s centered around the reaction of my ex girlfriend when she could tell I was about to end it – how she immediately knew something was wrong by the look on my face. It was a shift in the process of my writing my upcoming EP ‘The Last Several Months’, after writing this track I ended up scrapping a lot of the previous demos I had for the EP in favor of centering it around my experiences in the last several months of my life.” The China Blue explained.
“I returned to some of my synth pop roots, taking elements of 80s ballads while blending it with more modern production elements. I wrote and self produced the track in its majority in one night, with mixing and mastering assistance from H3X.” The China Blue continued. “I am happy with what we were able to accomplish with a one man team and how well we were able to get our ideas across with virtually no budget and during the pandemic. I feel like this video will be the start of what I envisioned The China Blue would look like.” Explained about the video.
