The third season of Ryan Murphy’s hit horror show American Horror Story, has yet to reach what will no doubt be its thrilling conclusion, and we are already getting hints about what to expect in Season Four.

According to an interview with Murphy in this week’s Entertainment Weekly, we will start to get hints about next year from Episode 11 onwards.  As always, Murphy is keeping his cards close to his chest; however, he has teased us saying “It’s not contemporary. It’s either going to shoot in New Orleans or it’s going to shoot in Santa Fe.”

However, once Coven reaches the end of the story this season, we will not be getting the rumoured spin-off as we had previously hoped.  Although Ryan Murphy and his team were initially interested in the idea, he says that part of the reason for not going ahead with the spin-off was due to the fact it was effecting this season’s story lines.

“We were starting to break episode 8 or 9 and we were like, ‘Well, we can’t kill that person off because we need them for the spin-off.’ As soon as those words were said, I was like, ‘There is no spin-off.’ Because it took away from the joy of the show. The reason the show is successful is no one is safe ever.”

I think part of the charm of American Horror Story is that each season is a complete story and so the spin off being nixed is not necessarily a bad thing.

Learn more about American Horror Story:Coven in this week’s Entertainment Weekly, which has possibly the coolest cover I have ever seen, when it hits the news stands on Friday.
