Shailene Woodley just got a new dad, sort of! It was just released that True Blood star Sam Trammell is set to play Shailene Woodley’s father in Fox’s The Fault in Our Stars. Trammell isn’t the first HBO star to be cast as Woodley’s parent; it was announced previously that Laura Dern (who currently stars on Enlightened) is set to play Woodley’s mother.
The story follows two cancer-stricken teens who strike up a romantic relationship as they face an uncertain future due to their medical diagnosis. Ansel Elgort, who has worked with Woodley before in Divergent, co-stars as her characters love interest Augustus, while Nat Wolff has has reportedly just closed a deal to play his best friend Isaac.
Josh Boone is set to direct the adaptation of John Green’s bestselling novel, which will be produced by the same team who worked on the Twilight series. The script has been adapted from novel by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber who previously worked on (500) Days of Summer. Production of the film is expected to start later this month in Pittsburgh.
