Mark your calendars for August 14, 2015 as Universal Pictures have announced this as the release date for the latest instalment of the Bourne film franchise.
The as yet unnamed film won’t follow along with novelist Robert Ludlum’s protagonist Jason Bourne but will instead follow the path of Bourne’s colleague Aaron Cross who was introduced in the 2012 film The Bourne Legacy and saw the debut of Jeremy Renner in the lead role, taking over from Matt Damon’s who starred as Jason Bourne in 2002’s The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007).
Justin Lin who is perhaps best known for his work on the Fast & Furious series will make his debut in the film series and long-time Bourne producer Frank Marshall returns alongside Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith.
Cumulative, the previous four Bourne films have grossed over $1.2billion at the box office worldwide.
