When the soundtrack to the first The Hunger Games film was released, there were many Grammy nominations which followed, including artists such as Maroon 5, Arcade Fire, and of course, Taylor Swift.
Just as the second movie has the potential to be as successful as the first, the second soundtrack seems like it is going to follow the trend.
British supergroup Coldplay have just announced they will be debuting a brand new song on the Catching Fire soundtrack. The band tweeted this announcement today with the hashtage #Atlas and a picture of some hand written lyrics.

The director of Catching Fire, Francis Lawrence, made a statement regarding the inclusion of Coldplay on the soundtrack. “I have great respect and admiration for Coldplay, and we are thrilled with how well they have connected to the themes and ideas within the film, Their unwavering passion and excitement for the project elevated the collaboration even further, and we can’t wait to share this music with audiences around the world,” Lawrence said.
Catching Fire is due for release on November 22, however fans of the franchise don’t have to wait that long to hear Coldplay’s offering for the soundtrack. “Atlas” will be available for digital download from August 26.
This will be a treat for fans of the movies and Coldplay alike.
