The cast of The Inbetweeners are heading Down Under to begin production of the sequel to their 2011 box office hit. Filming begins next week in Australia before packing up and moving to the UK in January.

The original film starred Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison as teenagers Will, Simon, Jay and Neil as they embark on a holiday to Crete to celebrate the end of their final year of school.

The Inbetweeners movie was based on the British sitcom created by Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, which follows the lives of the average suburban teenager.

Morris and Beesley made an announcement about the upcoming sequel via the film’s official Facebook page, saying, “We can’t say too much as we don’t want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas.

“Oh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon providing they’re let into the country. Thanks so much for all your support, we’re hoping to deliver a film that you’ll enjoy even more than the last one.”

The Inbetweeners 2 is written and directed by Morris and Beesley with Spencer Millman (The Mighty Boosh) set to produce.
