The Lego Movie is dominating the box office, with a massively-successful opening weekend and endless favorable reviews.

Released in theaters on February 7th, 2014, the Lego Movie is the first feature-length theatrical adventure featuring Lego men and women as well as the creative building blocks we all know and love. The film boasts an impressive array of characters, from Batman to Han Solo, as well as star-studded voice acting talent. In the film, Chris Pratt plays Emmet Brickowski, an ordinary (in Lego terms at least) construction worker minfigure who is mistaken for the “MasterBuilder,” throwing him into an epic journey for which he is chronically under-prepared.

Other big-name talent filling the movie’s roster include Will Arnett, taking on the dual roles of Batman and Bruce Wayne, Elizabeth Banks, who voices the original character Wyldstyle, and even Morgan Freeman, who provides voice for the sinister Vitruvius. The eclectic range of featured characters include C-3PO of Star Wars fame (voiced by Anthony Daniels), Wonder Woman of DC comics fame (Cobie Smulders), Billy Dee Williams returning to his beloved role as Lando Calrissian, and Shaquille O’Neal, who appears as … Shaq!

Garnering an impressive rating of 95% on movie review website Rotten Tomatoes, the Lego Movie has utterly trounced its competition, with a box office gross of $69.1 million in its first week alone. Critical response has been full of praise and adoration, with the Los Angeles Times stating that the film has received “nearly unanimous positive reviews.” The animated feature promises fun and entertainment for children and adults alike, with its humor, beautiful visuals, colorful cast and its grandiose sense of adventure. The film has also, perhaps not unexpectedly, resulted in many new Lego construction sets, featuring the characters seen on the big screen.

A sequel has been announced, with Jared Stern being brought on to begin the writing process on February 3rd, 2014 along with one other, unnamed individual.
